Urgent Advisory for U.S. Citizens in Iran: Depart Immediately If Safe to Do So

As regional tensions escalate in and around Iran, the U.S. Department of State has issued a critical advisory urging all U.S. citizens currently in Iran to depart the country immediately, provided it is safe to do so. Those who are unable to leave are strongly advised to shelter in place and secure adequate provisions of food, water, medical supplies, and other essential needs.

No U.S. Diplomatic Presence in Iran

It is important to note that the United States does not maintain diplomatic or consular relations with the government of Iran. Instead, the Swiss government, through its Embassy in Tehran, acts as the protecting power for U.S. interests in Iran. However, the Swiss Protecting Power has limited ability to provide assistance to U.S. citizens at this time.
