The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has officially extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for individuals from Honduras and Nicaragua. As of August 4, 2025, TPS for both countries is now valid through November 18, 2025.
This update also includes automatic extensions of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs), allowing eligible individuals to live and work in the U.S. until that date.

For TPS Holders (Employees):

You are allowed to remain in the U.S. and legally work until November 18, 2025.

Even if your EAD looks expired, it is still valid due to automatic extension.

If you were let go because of an expired EAD, you may now be eligible for rehire.
For Employers:

EADs for TPS holders from Honduras or Nicaragua are automatically extended.

These EADs will show category A12 or C19 and may appear expired on their face—but are valid through November 18, 2025.

Reverify Form I-9 with a printout of the USCIS auto-extension guidance.

Keep that printout with the employee’s I-9 as documentation of compliance.
